Do you have a dream?
Of course you do. I guess a better question is how many hurdles have you jumped in quest of said dream?
Society has a way of distracting you, keeping you busy, and in some cases, outright discourage you. It holds you back, perhaps from what you were put on this earth to do.
How many times have you not been able to do something that you love, simply because you just don't have the time to do it?
I'm a firm believer that we all have a purpose, and we all have our own unique set of talents and abilities, (as well as weaknesses.) That's part of what makes us all unique, and how we were designed. However, the worldly system tends to distract and drive us away from that.
Isn't it funny that with every change, every "crisis" it only seems to complicate things? "You gotta do more with less." Funny how those who say that probably never worked a day in their life. Maybe it's just an excuse to squeeze free thinkers like me out. You to?
It's been a long journey navigating this endless treadmill, full of twists, turns, obstacles, challenges, distractions, and curve balls. (Exhausting, huh?)
Exactly.
Valuable years have been wasted. For a time, everything got the best of me and overwhelmed me. And the worst part, I allowed it to.
I allowed endless, and often unnecessary things and distractions tie me up and keep me away from what was important.
I listened to the whispers leading me away from what was important.
And in a moment of weakness, I temporarily put my music career on the back burner, and went with a little Plan B to get myself out of a jam. However, that decision is what tied me up, mentally, spiritually, and financially. And because of that, I lost my edge. From there, it just takes a wrong turn of events, (or two) and then you fall right into the trap.
So there I was, bound by chains that probably never should've been there. Whispers start creeping in, calling you a fool, calling you a failure, calling you anything for you to give up and accept these chains.
I finally said "Enough!" I'm going to find a way back up, and I'm going to finish what I started.
Perhaps you can relate to this story?
As I am currently clawing my way out of this hole, everyday, I can still hear the whispers, I can feel the chains looking to detract me, and tie up again, but now I've learned to use this as motivation.
This struggle and conflict has served as the inspiration for a number of my songs, including "Reason To Fight" "Beyond This World" and "Agent Of Chaos", two of which with years in the making, that I could never finish, until now..
I guess you could say they have a lot of meaning for me, as I found myself in this hole asking, "what am I doing here?" I know I was meant for more than this, and you know what?
I'm willing to bet that you are to.
Years ago, I let the world convince me that I may never be a rock star. Perhaps that may be true, but what I CAN do, is connect directly with individuals who not only have a good chance of appreciating my work, but maybe, just maybe my work can positively impact someone's life, help pull them out of the darkness, a tough situation, perhaps even save their life. That is what my mission has become.
If you've made it this far, I truly hope my work has inspired and impacted you in a positive way, and I hope you never let the world put out the fire in you like it almost did me.
To leave you with a quote from Beyond This World:
"The world is not for you. They're scared of what you can do, when you see the truth."
I'd like to hear from you. What are YOUR talents and abilities? And what can you do with them going forward?
You will see resistance, but don't let it stop you..
